Following the statement on the blog of EA Sports General Manager Cam Weber last week, news came from the foreign media Polygon that EA has applied for a new title for the FIFA football series called “EA Sports FC”. This trademark was submitted to the British Intellectual Property Office and the European Union Intellectual Property Office on October 1st, and the classification is “video game”.

In the absence of competitors in the industry, cutting expenses is another way to increase competitiveness. EA has had enough to stuff money into the organization of the International Football Association (FIFA) every year to obtain the authorization of the game name FIFA. As EA executive Peter Moore said, they have done more to promote the FIFA brand than FIFA themselves, and the game is entirely their own success.

With the registration of a new trademark, the future FIFA name change is almost certain. The “FIFA22” released this year may become the final FIFA game, and EA Sports FC may start a new series. The PGA Golf Tour, which will be restarted in the future, will also be renamed EA Sports PGA Tour.

Of course, the naming agreement between EA and FIFA is independent, and ending the authorization will not affect the relationship with other partners. Considering that the PES series, was renamed earlier this year, which eventually led to an avalanche of word-of-mouth for the free version of “eFootball 2022”. Let’s see if there are any concerns about EA?

The only thing that can be foreseen is that FUT and its players’ open-packing method will remain unchanged in the next few years. After all, it has become EA’s largest cash cow. Unless there is a strong competitor in the industry, the new series will only be changed every year.
